Voice Recordings and Transcripts

When you subscribe to Koa Premium, our payment processor (RevenueCat) collects:

  • Purchase transaction details
  • Subscription status and renewal information
  • Payment method (processed by Apple - we do not receive payment card details)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide AI Coaching: Generate personalized feedback on your speaking practice using artificial intelligence
  • Improve Your Experience: Track your progress, maintain practice streaks, and personalize content
  • Process Subscriptions: Manage your premium subscription and access to features
  • Analyze and Improve: Understand how users interact with the App to improve features and fix issues
  • Communicate: Send important updates about the App (we do not send marketing emails)

How Your Data Is Processed

3.1 On-Device Processing

Voice Transcription: Your audio recordings are transcribed entirely on your device using on-device machine learning technology. Your voice recordings are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service for transcription.

Local Storage: Your recordings, transcripts, and session history are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data unless you explicitly share it.

3.2 AI Feedback Generation

To generate personalized coaching feedback, we send the following to our AI service:

  • Your transcript text (not the audio file)
  • Speaking metrics (words per minute, filler word counts, etc.)
  • Your feedback style preference

This data is processed through our secure server and is not stored by AI providers beyond the immediate request.

Data Storage and Security

5.1 Local Storage

  • Voice recordings are stored only on your device
  • Transcripts and session history are stored locally using encrypted device storage
  • We retain up to 100 practice sessions on your device; older sessions are automatically deleted

5.2 Server-Side Data

  • We do not store your voice recordings on our servers
  • Transcripts sent for AI feedback are not retained after processing
  • Anonymous usage analytics may be retained for product improvement

5.3 Security Measures

  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • API keys are stored securely on our servers (never on your device)
  • We implement rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Device storage encryption is provided by your operating system

Your Privacy Choices

7.1 Delete Your Data

  • Delete individual practice sessions within the App
  • Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data

You may disable analytics collection through the App settings or by contacting us.

7.3 Microphone Access

You can revoke microphone permission at any time through your device settings. The App requires microphone access to record practice sessions.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.
